What's the flow of tv season to book? I decided to finally start reading the books, haven't watched an episode of the tv show. Finished up the first book, was just wondering how the show episodes went in relation with the books?

doesn't match up, he kinda explains in one of the books that half of the characters are in one and half in the other. TV show probably wouldnt be as good if it were the same format

The first season is almost verbatim of the first book
The second season strays a little from the second book
The third season is about 3/5ths of the third book and it strays a little bit
The fourth season is the rest of the third book and little of the fifth book.

I should probably just go ahead and read the series before watching any of the show then, right?

But this is correct so you could go ahead and watch the first season if you want.
