How do nail salons survive?

Another nail salon just opened up by my house even though there's literally one on every corner. I've never seen one close down either. Also, do any non-Vietnamese nail salons exist?

I know dry cleaners are popular for familes because the owners are OK with a small margin since they are employing several members of the family.
