Senior Hamas official says group abducted Israeli teens

Someone on here was claiming there wasn't a shred of evidence the peace loving organization known as Hamas had anything to do with killing these Zionist animals.
RAMALLAH West Bank (Reuters) - A top Hamas official said members of his militant group kidnapped three Israeli teenagers whose deaths in June provoked a spiral of violence that led to the war in Gaza, the first acknowledgement of the movement's involvement.
Hamas, which controls Gaza, has up to now refused to confirm or deny Israeli accusations that it masterminded the abduction and killing of the three young men, one of them a joint U.S.-Israeli citizen, in Hebron.
"There was much speculation about this operation, some said it was a conspiracy," Saleh al-Arouri told delegates at the International Union of Islamic Scholars in Istanbul on Wednesday, according to a recording of the meeting posted online by organizers.
"The popular will was exercised throughout our occupied land, and culminated in the heroic operation by the Qassam Brigades in imprisoning the three settlers in Hebron," he said, referring to Hamas's armed wing.
"This was an operation from your brothers in Qassam undertaken to aid their brothers on hunger strike in (Israeli) prisons," he added.

Do you not believe Israel had an incentive to come up with a justification for the arrests and accuse Hamas of something it had nothing to do with?

The smoking gun is news, but Israel has suspected al-Arouri was linked to this for some time now, so in that sense this isn't terribly surprising. The issue is that this doesn't make anything Israel did after that any more sensible, because al-Arouri is a Turkish exile.
For example, this is a two-month old article, and from an Israeli source: LINK
A triple murder is a crime, not a casus belli. The Beitunia shooting that killed two Palestinian teenagers a month earlier wouldn't have justified a third intifada either.

quote:Now given this information, you can do a number of things. You can wait on the evidence to come in (which it has; not all murder victims are so lucky). You can go with your gut and give al-Arouri a house call from the Mossad, he's a scumbag and nobody would shed much of a tear for him. Or you can ignore the intelligence of your own military sources, order the re-arrest or everyone released in the Shalit deal, and blame Hamas leadership in Gaza. Then start a fake "search" locking down and terrorizing the entire West Bank, demolishing homes and public buildings, and killing six Palestinians when you knew the boys were dead all along to inflame both populations.
A senior IDF source said Thursday that the search for the three Israeli teens kidnapped by Hamas terrorists last Thursday suggests that Hamas leadership abroad, and particularly in Turkey, is behind the abduction.
The source told Walla! that in particular Salah al-Arouri, a Hamas leader living in Turkey, has been a key source behind terror attacks in Judea and Samaria in recent years.
...
While Israel still doesn't have the "smoking gun" proving al-Arouri's involvement, the source said "I have no doubt that al-Arouri's hand is behind this."
"You have to understand that this isn't a normal army, and there's no direct command but rather a general directive, and currently the directive remains unchanged - to conduct abduction attacks," commented the source.
...
According to the source, chances that the Hamas leadership in Gaza, or Hamas terrorists released in the Gilad Shalit deal, are behind the kidnapping are less likely.

Somewhere a Hackfan weeps.
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — An Israeli airstrike in Gaza killed three senior Hamas military commanders Thursday, delivering a likely blow to the organization's morale and highlighting the long reach of Israel's intelligence services.
The strike marked a further escalation in fighting after Egyptian efforts to end the war collapsed earlier this week, and signaled no end in sight for violence that has killed more than 2,000 Palestinians and 67 Israelis.

But all I heard was that the wife and infant son of a Hamas leader were killed in an Israeli airstrike.
quote:LINK
Amid a new round of fighting in the Middle East on Wednesday, Hamas said an Israeli airstrike killed the wife and young son of its military commander, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanayhu declared that his military's assault in Gaza has dealt the U.S.-designated terrorist group the "harshest blow" since its inception in 1987.
Hamas, which governs Gaza, said Qassam Brigades commander Mohammed Deif was not home and escaped injury when the Israeli strike destroyed his home, killing his family members.
Abu Obeida, the spokesman for Hamas' military wing, said Israel was "unable to get to our commander, Deif," who he said will "lead the army that will enter to liberate the holy al-Aqsa mosque" in Jerusalem.
Sami Abu Zuhri, a Hamas spokesman, told the group's TV station Al-Aqsa that Deif "wasn't even in the location when they bombed it."

J Bird is so right. The only thing Hamas understands is Israel fighting back. Some on here would rather see Israel get driven into the sea by Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran etc etc. Too damn bad. Israel knows that if they have no alternative but to destroy those who would kill all Israelis before its too late. never again

Coincidence that Trackfan has been pretty nonexistent lately?
A Jewish student on the campus of Temple University was assaulted on Wednesday afternoon and called “kike” and “baby killer” by alleged members of the anti-Semitic student group Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP). Daniel Vessal, a Camera on Campus fellow and a member of the Jewish fraternity AEPi, was punched in the face by a violent alleged member of the anti-Israel organization SJP at “Templefest” which is organized for students on campus to gain new information about campus clubs a week before the start of classes. Vessal is a managing information systems major at the Fox School of Business at the university.

But the Hamas fan club rages on

I don't consider any anti-Israeli college group to be anti-Semitic. This false equivalency causes a delegitimization of the Palestinian viewpoint and should be treated as an unwarranted 'race card'. In fact, even the purest form of antizionism is in no manner anti-Semitic.

There is no moral high ground in this.
Just more death and misery.
