I watched it on my flight last week. The sound kept fricking up but I didn't miss too much. I thought it was good as well. Not the best Marvel movie, but definitely close.

And agreed that the first one was pretty horrible.

I guess I need to watch this

I haven't really thought about it because I just assumed it would suck like the first one, but I keep seeing these good reviews for it

It definitely has some calling cards of the ones I hate

And it's not groundbreaking, but it's awesome

It definitely has more of an Avengers feel to it than a Thor/CA1 vibe, if that makes sense.

And it's much better because of that (and you can tell they did that on purpose).

I can see this, but I think it is the best Marvel movie to date.

It's much better, but I think the best superhero movie this summer was Days of Future Past.

I think what makes CA2 stand out from the other Marvel efforts is how well-crafted and practical the action scenes were. The choreography and sound editing were top notch. You could really sense the weight of the collisions, punches, and falls. Much different than the CGI-fests you usually get in comic book movies. It was similar to the Nolan Batmans except the directors actually knew how to film a fight scene.

Also it finally made me feel like Caps is the leader he's supposed to be. Up to this point, if I didn't know any better, one would think Tony Stark was the leader of The Avengers.

Guardians of the Galaxy is more fun, but DoFP I think has the better plot and conflict. In it's core essence, Guardians is the better movie, while DoFP is the better film if that makes sense.

I didn't get that...that would have sent me running. I know 99% of people love it, but I hated...hated the avengers

the CA 1, Thor 1&2, IM 2&3, felt like turds that weren't ready, but they were squeezed out anyway...just 2 hour long promos for the avengers and related movies

this felt like its own movie...my only gripe is that falcon would've been better had he been iron man, but given how I hate RDJ in the role, and I cannot stand Paltrow...I think it worked fine...there is just no way nerds could've accepted iron man in the movie without him being more focused on, more screen time, etc.

The helicarriers were the only things avengery about it, and because this movie didn't suck, and because of hydra's plan...I liked it.

Unlike the last one it was an actual captain America movie

The first one was reminiscent of Jack Kirby's and even some of Timely's comics tone of Captain America. It was very much a Cap film from 1960. Which was a perfect introduction to the character. You need that grounded, "all-america" appeal.

Winter Soldier was Ed Brubaker's version. Socially relevant themes, man out of time, all that good stuff. Take this movie's tone/feel and place it in the first film and I think you have something far weaker and very strange.

Both stand together to create a very good character in the MCU.

Bingo. That street fight scene from the bridge...just an awesome sequence. Well shot, well choreographed.

I don't consider x men when I say "marvel movie"...I mean these avenger movies...that I typically loathe and besides avengers and iron man 2, don't go to the theaters for

DOFP did skimp on some deets, but considering how much ratner fricked up everything in the last one I thought it was really fricking good.

the professor was killed, literally separated into a billion pieces...now he's just there in the future

wolverine's claws...again, he just had the metal on his claws taken off, now he has them in the future. Neither of these things took away from my enjoyment, just stood out to me

otherwise, bueno.

not too practical with the car door sliding but I did feel the action was toned down to a CA level, which made it a better CA movie

the heroes get bloodied, bruised, dirty, etc. and you see it in their behavior.

essentially what I'm trying to say...and because of the source material, the characters feel more physically vulnerable...they're risking a lot it seems whereas iron man is just whatever, hulk cannot be killed, thor is a god, and arrow guy has the power of lameness

post operation, it just fricking sucked

not one but TWO shitty montages, one of which was all the shite we really wanted to see and didn't get to, the other made CA a fricking joke movie.

It was also over the top with the political correctness. Why can't we show people, even children, Nazis in their historical context? And to make matters worse, they further separated HYDRA and the Nazis. Heil Hydra? You mean Hitler? then later they start saying hydra? To top it off, they make a concerted effort not to establish that the Americans are the good guys and zee shermans are the bad guys..."I just don't like bullies, no matter where they're from" and there are no American insignias on the GI uniforms...complete horseshite especially for a captain AMERICA movie

I agree with you on the fight scenes. And agree that they needed to be toned down to a "CA" level or the movie doesn't work.

Especially agree with this:

After I watched it, I was thinking "holy shite!" that was a great movie. Re-watched CA FA after & got a much better appreciation of original. Definitely want to add to my collection.
