I just paused on CNN flipping around and watched Don Lemon argue that anyone can buy an automatic weapon, and that he has purchased them. The guest just tried to explain how wrong he was. Lemon then argued that it was semantics and an automatic weapon was one that allowed you to fire off a number of rounds quickly and kill someone.

ETA: they were discussing people in the Ferguson area buying weapons legally to protect themselves against the protesters.

When you give idiots a platform on which to to speak, they will use it.

Why I aren't any of the typical talking heads running their dick suckers about gun control Re: the looters shooting? Oh, that's because they know those guns weren't purchased legally.

I despise idiots. People are so ignorant.

It's a damn good thing the police officer had access to his semi-automatic weapon or he would be the dead one today.

See how that works?

The whole segment was so outrageously ignorant it was maddening. Not only was he 100% factually wrong, he was indigent about it. Then dismissive of the factually correct guest who tried to explain the difference. I have not been so mad at the TV in a long time. Even my wife was yelling at the screen. I have to find that clip somewhere to post it. It topped the foam earplug/ rubber bullet tweet in ignorance for sure.

The definition of automatic gun was one that lets you kill someone quickly. As my wife yelled, "so does a fricking hammer!"

I can understand how some fool that spent his whole life in NYC might not know the difference, but Lemon was born in raised in Louisiana and has spent most of his professional life in Georgia, so he should know better. As far as the BATF is concerned, the difference between automatic and semiautomatic is as big as the difference between lightning and lightning bug.

Don Lemon has been awful during this entire story IMO. I've watched mostly CNN and he has been clearly biased and absolutely refuses to challenge any of the people on the street he interviews even when what they are saying is blatantly crazy or incorrect.

I wouldn't go that far. A revolver would have probably led to the same result.

It must be hard to address the camera with one's head that far in the sand.

As more info rolls out, this whole story gets more idiotic. Every last bit of the original story seems to fall away daily. It reminds me of these cult members who simply re-adjust their beliefs when the UFO doesn't pick them up on their chosen date. Most people would rethink their stance and realize maybe, in light of evidence, they made an incorrect assessment. Not so apparently.

Maybe. At this point, we don't know how many times he had to shoot. All we know is that Brown was hit six times, and the last being the lethal shot.

Did he shoot a total of 6,7, or more? If the lethal shot was his 10th round, the seven shot revolver didn't help much.

I've got several revolvers, and keep one in my nightstand, fwiw. I'm not disputing, just saying more evidence needs to be known here.

He's been no better than the dumbasses protesting. They are one in the same IMO, except Lemon has a platform to spew his racist motives. I truly hate that man.

I'm not arguing against semi-automatic weapons, but without a weapon of his own, I don't think Brown would have been able to do much harm to Wilson after receiving six bullets.

Depends on where those six shots are placed.

I get the gist of that, but 6 ill-placed shots or multiple misses would leave him still able to do some harm or possibly gain control of the weapon.

Bingo.

The Difference in One and Twenty

Shots to roughly 80 percent of targets on the body would not be fatal blows, Dr. Fackler said. Still, he added, it is like roulette.

He might have gained control of an empty weapon, and meanwhile Wilson still presumably had access to plenty of other stuff (eg. pepper spray, night stick, shotgun, etc.)

This,

Then this,

Guess who else would have access to all that stuff too, included fresh magazines that are right next to the pepper spray and baton?
