I know there are a good many cubs fans here so there may be a few people who care, but how in the world does this guy still have a job pitching in the big leagues. He has lost something like his last 14 starts or something ridiculous like that, and is getting lit up again tonight. The cubs seem to be on the rise with all of the good young position players that they have in the system. Wouldn't you think they would call up somebody/anybody to get some experience that will actually help them down the road.

Every time we throw him it's almost like a forfeit

That's exactly how I feel! I told my wife "well we just lost."

You don't pay someone the money he makes to pitch for someone else, and Iowa isn't exactly filled with guys itching for a big league starting rotation spot.

Jackson still has the best "stuff" on that staff outside of JA whose "stuff" isn't frontline per se but has played up the past month. Nice #3.

They just said this will be his 16th game this year where he has not completed 6 innings and his 6th where he has not completed 5. He just got pulled after giving up 7 runs in 2 2/3... In my opinion you show that guy the door. If they are trying to have a winning atmosphere and instill a little confidence as a team, you can't do it with him pitching every 5 days.

Team won't compete until 2016. They'll add a big name SP this offseason and next.

"winning atmosphere/confidence" are terms which are not generally associated with the Cubs OR the Lastros, for that matter !
Two of the worst run organizations in all of professional sports...wish we had a European style relegation system...LOL

We understand why he is pitching. It is just really hard to stomach. He is a career mediocre at best pitcher with a 4.2 FIP and 2:1 k:bb ratio. I know he can throw gas, but his walk rate blows. High 90's don't mean shite if you cannot come close to locating it. Every time he pitches he gets roughed up. Batters have a ludicrous line drive rate off him. Defending Edwin Jackson is hard to do at this point. There is a reason he never stuck with an MLB team after like 10 years.

That's pretty obvious when you say something like this:

Edwin Jackson is only pitching for two reasons. The unintentional reason is that he sucks and he's helping the Cubs get a better draft position, so be thankful. And the Cubs are only pitching him on the off chance he can boost his trade value.

In all honesty, I hate Edwin Jackson a lot right now, and he is very awful at his job. But it really doesn't matter because the Cubs won't be competing this season. Next season, however, if this keeps up and the Cubs are intending to contend, he gone.

What didn't you understand? I'm laughing at the all around cluelessness of your post.

1. JA doesn't have front of the line stuff
2. His stuff has been "playing" up for a month
3. A nice #3.

Either you are trolling or have no clue what you're talking about. Not sure which one it is.

Buck Showalter disagrees with you. He still mentions it on the radio here in Baltimore so I'll take his word on it.

It always baffles me when people say this, but there are so many behind the scenes things happening and there are alot of pros to keeping guys in the minors for a longer period of time like team control, arbitration eligibility, etc.

And the fact that Edwin Jackson being terrible is helping the Cubs draft higher next year.
