With really young Qb's. Two runs then the 5 yard pass for hopefully the first. How many players on Defense will opposing teams have in the box to stop the run? Last year was fun on offense and i'm hoping Cam can still mix it up a little even with young players on offense. I say 75% run to 25% pass. Add in some QB scrambles to 75% runs. Just hope we dont run the JJ type of offense we had in 2011 .

You mean the one where we went 13-0 in the regular season?

Don't worry, we can't run the JJ type of offense this year. JJ graduated and no longer plays for LSU.

Unless you want 2008 type season, then yes we will try to establish the run.

I'd say did you see last years offense?
Where we threw the ball down the field. Id say it was 50/50 throw to past last year. This year not so much.

No way it's 75% run. It wasn't that high during the JJ seasons.

if you include the gadget run plays when JJ was the Qb then id say it was closer to 70% or so.

I stand corrected it was 60% run 40% pass last year for LSU. So i guess 70% run to 30% pass is possible for this year.

Good grief. If we'd have ran the ball more last year we damn sure wouldn't have lost to Ole Miss.

Just for clarification...
Run% 2013= 61.6% 2011= 67.9%

The difference was not the completion rate (62.8% vs. 62.0%). The difference was where those passes were thrown and the yds/comp.

Surprisingly, LSU's YAC (yds after catch) is pretty poor. It was better in 2011. Again, if you dink & dunk (think spread, WVU, and Tavon Austin or bubble screens) vs throw down the field like in a Cam offense, there's the reason for that.

I can agree with that. but LSU didn't lose because of passing vs ole miss

they lost because mett tried to force throws downfield instead of being patient and taking what the defense gave him. That game really sucked arse.

Yeah it's still stuck in my craw. Miles is gonna get our boys ready to remove that memory when the Black Bears come to TS. Can't freaking wait. That one has stuck with me way longer than it should.

We have the best oc in the game and 2 qbs that seem to be manageable. We can still throw the ball.

for sure

but if anyone thinks LSU won't pass the ball this year, they don't know what kind of talent LSU has at QB and aren't familiar with cam cameron

he's a fan of "chunk yardage"

We've never done this under Miles, so we can't "return" to it. In 2011 we completed more long passes than we did last year. I remember one game in which Rueben Randle caught two bombs from two different QB's when we caught the defense playing run heavy and threw on an early down. I think that's what you can expect this year - a lot of running, but not 75%; it'll be in the high 60's.

If LSU can get 4 yards every time a RB touches the ball, they should run it every play. So long as they keep scoring IDGAF how they go about it.

Our running game should be so strong that it makes throwing the ball as optimal for a young QB as anyone could ever hope. I don't care what history or anyone says... We're gonna be in the playoff.
