After over a week of rioting with no end in sight I say "yes".

Elements of martial law have already been implemented (curfew, deployment of National Guard forces).

Do you mean that the governor should suspend all civil authority? Or that the president should federalize the Guard and declare martial law?

Don't think we're there yet.

No. Last night seemed to be a turning point. Tonight will be the key though. Will those vested in violence redouble their efforts or will the wiser minds we saw last night among the community leaders prevail?

Nah. I think the National Guard raised the stakes enough to calm things down. I think we have seen the worst and things are winding down unless it is announced no charges against Wilson.

I agree. Saw a vid of some locals calling out the outsiders trying to incite violence and telling them to GTFO.

obama's dilemma.

Install martial law - OBAMA IS OPPRESSING US

Don't install martial law - OBAMA IS TOO BUSY GOLFING TO PAY ATTENTION TO AMERICA.

Obama is fricked, republicans are stacked.

No.

It isn't even near bad enough for martial law to be declared.

Why can't the state institute martial law?

The governor can, but how is that so different from what he's doing now (limited measures on an as-needed basis). Is it really in his interest to suspend all civil authority in the city? The county?

Just seems like the thing keeps spiraling more and more out of control.

Well, they do want more government. That would fill the bill.

No...let them destroy the town and get no aid for rebuilding. Merchants take the insurance settlement and move to a more suitable town. Let it become a ghost town.
