How much better will the Jags be this year?

I'm in the Jacksonville area and everyone is excited for the season. It feels like there is a lot of momentum right now. Every media person has said that between last year and this year, there's a complete 180. A reporter on the radio said that the Jags are one year off from contending for a playoffs spot. So, how much better do you think they'll be this year?

5/6 wins would be an accomplishment. Need more talent at the skill positions to be a consistent threat on offense. Defense should be better by adding some Seattle defenders.

That Bortles arm tho

We'll be 4-12 or 5-11. Dave Caldwell and Gus Bradley are building this team the right way though. I'm very excited for the future. Need a few play makers on the defensive line and receiver.

Bortles will be legit sooner than later. But they have no weapons on O. Zero. None. They need a lot of help.

Always is before the season starts.

I think 5 or 6 wins.

Cecil Short can play. Also looking forward to Marquise Lee and Storm Johnson.

They need to cut the bullshite and start Bortles week one if they want to win some games, IMO.

They aren't going anywhere this season. It doesn't hurt them at all to let him sit and learn the offense.

I wouldn't be too surprised if they win 6-7 games.

If the coach really is good then this isn't a ridiculous expectation. It doesn't take that long to build a team that competes for a playoff spot if a few of the right decisions are made.

This is such a flawed mentality.

What good would it do to bench him for Chad Henne and watch the offense sputter? At least let him get his feet wet. No NFL GM is sitting there going, "oh well, we aren't going anywhere, might as well let our first round QB sit on his arse all year so he can learn from the great Chad Henne!"
All these NFL teams are trying to win and win NOW. There's no time to sit and build a team over years and years --- people lose jobs for that now. It's win now mentality, and Bortles gives them the best chance to do that.

Fair points, but the last time they threw a rookie QB into the deep end, he drowned.
