Beer Friendly States

Followup to previous thread on best beer states. This is a statistical analysis of the beer states. The list looks much different than the ones we came up with. This may be the only list that has Louisiana ahead of California.
The statistics show that California is hampered by it's relatively low number of breweries per capita, relatively high taxes and relatively low consumption per capita (offset by wine consumption, one would assume).

I knew TN would be dead last before I clicked the link. The taxes there are brutal.
One thing the list didn't take into account were liquor laws. I understand that would be hard to quantify as it varies county to county, but it deserves to be in the analysis.

I think government regulation and taxes are probably a big reason why the states are rated the way they are. LA and MS have ridiculously low numbers of breweries per capita.
The list also shows why you shouldn't have a computer judge a beauty contest. The numbers may tell one story, but obviously, there are other factors that the numbers don't account fo.

No state income tax in Tennessee, correct? I'm sure they make up with it on sales tax and property taxes.

Pfft. Who needs more breweries? We can get all the Budweiser we can drink, or if you want to get all fancy and stuff, there's that Abita premium line.

No real surprises at the bottom, I fully expected to see the Bible Belt well represented there..

Hmm wikipedia tells me there are 38 breweries in Montana and 1,015,165 people. This ratio does not equal the number they came up with.
Study is stupid, his first paragraph included a grammatical error.
