so many drafts see top Qbs falling to the 7-10 rounds. i dont understand why people who spend a early pick on a qb sit around and watch guys like foles, brady, rivers just continue to fall. Why do people rather draft crappy rbs and wrs instead of grab a solid backup qb. if anything this kills the qb talent pool of the guy racking up on rbs and wrs in the early rounds. lets them bastards start shitty qbs. they will be crying for a trade by week 3.

tl;dr version

draft backup qbs, frick over those who wait

I ended up taking Brees in the first round of our keeper league. Couldn't pass up Ryan's value in the 7th, he was the best available on my list by like 20 players.

Wat

You're only hurting yourself by taking a backup, not the other owners

you dont think Brady is more valuable on your bench and out someone else's lineup than grabbing a #4 wr/rb?

I wait till everyone but me has a QB and then I take a Rivers or Wilson. I end up with the better skill guys that way. I also take a defense earlier since they can score a lot of points in my league. I'll get a backup QB once someone starts that trend too. It's been a long time since I didn't make my championship game. You're stupid if you draft a backup player who will only play once all year just to screw someone else. You're losing a starter that way

Naw. Unless you're starting 2 QBs.

Youre downplaying the importance of a 4th WR/RB for a variety of reasons.

But if you can convince members of our leagues to draft backup QBs early I'd be very appreciative

I drafted Matt Ryan in the 11th round yesterday. I hate Matt Ryan and didn't want him but the 11th round got to me and he was there so I had no choice but to take him.

So waste a pick on a QB that you will likely play just 1 week out the year instead of taking a flyer on an upside Rb/WR? Makes perfect sense

I think I waited until the 12th in the Pelicans talk to take my QB...Happy to take Rivers. Foles/Kaep/Wilson went in the 11th

i took brady in the 10th, trying to start a back up . worked a little and the guys waiting wound up with cutler for one and a rivers/wilson combo for the other. i dont feel it hurt my team by missing out on drafting cecil shorts at the time

So basically what you're saying is you are mad because YOU are the one behind the curve? And while everybody else was getting value at other positions you took 2 QBs with 2 of your first 10 picks?

Maybe it's just me, i never draft a QB. I think it's pointless.

One of the knocks on my Regulars team from Honk's analysis was no backup QB, all i could do was lol

I understand a backup if you have a running QB- more opportunities for them to get injured. And drafting that backup late and letting it be someone whom you feel has upside to outperform waiver wire QBs.

Otherwise, no backups

this league has a huge bench. like i said the players going at the time, i dont feel like i put myself behind the 8 ball by grabbing a backup.

its just a weird situation now in drafts, guys are bitching when they keep brees/roders because of the value on qbs you can get late

we keep 3 guys and after keeping charles, foster, and alshon this was my squad (12 team 1/2 ppr):

QB: Tom Brady, Nick Foles
RB: Jamaal Charles, Arian Foster, Trent Richardson, Christine Michael, James White
WR: Alshon Jeffery, Cordarrelle Patterson, Julian Edelman, Reggie Wayne, Riley Cooper, Doug Baldwin, Josh Gordon
TE: Zach Ertz, Kelce
PK:
TD: New England Patriots

RB/WR is meh. TE is bad (I don't have Ertz as starter worthy). I wouldn't ahve gone Foles and probably grabbed another high upside mid round skill position or one of the top 11 TEs

I got Payton Manning and Ryan. 2 qb league. Then on the bench I got JFF and McCown late. Science experiments.

Bc I would rather gamble on an Alfred Morris or Alshon Jeffery (years past obviously) than a backup QB.
