Help with getting Java to run for Blackboard (Windows 7 Home Premium)

Starting classes Monday with a local college that uses Blackboard. Apparently Java is one of the things needed. I've tried everything under the sun to try to get my browsers to enable Java (I use Chrome, have IE, and downloaded Firefox with no success).
- Downloaded the 32-bit and 64-bit Java applications since Chrome runs as a 32-bit browser.
- Turned off Windows Firewall (via McAfee).
- Went into Internet Options on all three browsers and made sure allowing Java scripting was checked.
- Uninstalled and reinstalled Java (both 32-bit and 64-bit) multiple times.
This is the message that I'm getting when I try to access it when the Blackboard system is running it's Platform Check.
I can't figure out for the life of me what is still blocking it. This is the same message I get on all three browsers even when the firewall is disabled.
Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.

Control Panel -> Java Settings (might have to type "java" in the control panel search box)
Lower security settings to medium.

Looks like that fixed it. Thanks.

Good, but you might want to put it back on high, and figure out how to set it to medium only for the blackboard site. Not sure I can walk you through that one here. Try following these directions.
