Makes you look at Seaworld a totally different way.
It is amazing after that show they are still doing this shite.

I have a friend who has worked at zoos and animal themed parks... this is a very one-sided version that leaves out a ton.

We should send those poor creatures back to the Moon

Well what's the other side?

You guys have obviously not seen it. I am no green peace animal loving nut but this shite is ridiculous. There is no other side to this shite.
My buddy used to work at Marine life and still has the dolphin bite scars. Orca's are just not suitable for this shite.

It leaves out all they do beyond the "shows". She had an issue with that... using animals for entertainment; training them to do stunts. But there is much more that is done for these animals that benefits them and the species. And I'm not just talking about orcas. Often, these places take in sick animals and bring them back to health. They can't always put them back in the wild, so they use them to breed and try to put those back in their natural habitat.
Sea world did a lot for orcas, too in that they made them look friendly and people start to have empathy for them which drove protests against poachers. Since the shows started, orca numbers in the wild shot up.

I know a couple of people that work at Seaworld in Texas. Being a trainer is supposedly horrific. All day long they are in wet suits, in the water, with no shade. Apparently doing that everyday for a few months shreds your body apart.

I agree they do some good for animals in need, but it does not outweigh the bad, and the PR machine that they make any negative incident out to be. Specifically, blaming trainers for wild animal behavior.

Maybe I spoke too soon.

Orcas in the wild;
no attack or adverse event ever, many reports of co-operative behavior
in captivity have killed what half a dozen and hundreds of reports of aggression and attacks..
I would probably swim with ORCAS IN THE WILD but not in one of those damn tanks

True. Unless they can't survive on their own, it's a travesty to have captive orcas.

Say what you want to say, dude can shoot a bow. Has he ever come back from taking that piss?

Probably shouldn't be up to is to save the ones that can't make it on their own....that's part of nature
I saw about an hour of the program and saw one stat not sure if it's true...captive orcas live about 25 years and wild ones live 70

Animals should be left alone in their own habitat.
We shouldn't bother them, only to eat.

Orcas are intelligent and extremely active. I'm fortunate that we have resident and transient pods here, and they blow me away. I saw a pod kill a minke whale, not a small task. Here's one toying with a sea lion.

Truly they are masters of the Oceans, not great whites like so many people think. Shark week even had a special this week on how Orcas track and kill great whites by flipping them over.
