Would he still be alive, and all of this would have been avoided , and yes the cop prolly has some blame after the fact.

Most likely -

whether the cop knew he robbed the store or not, HE knew he robbed the store and (probably) figured the cop was going to question him about it.

Hence the confrontation, hence the escalation, hence the opportunity for a cop to react badly - or even go rogue.

All nonexistent if the sweet child had not robbed the store.

sigh

Considering we don't yet know exactly what occurred, it's anyone's guess.
Right?

If we take the policeman's account as relayed by a second party as correct, Brown went after the cop's gun in the squad car. Then he rushed the cop again outside the car. Given that set of facts, he'd be dead either way.

Meh, no way to really tell at this point. The chief of police has been an incompetent moron and spoon fed info to continue inciting the people.

There are two things that need to be known to answer your question

1) Did the officer confront them because of the robbery or because they were in the street? This info keeps going back and forth

2) If he approached them only because of being in the street... Did Brown react in a confrontational manner because he thought the cop was there to arrest him?

We will never know the answer to the second.

Go to this thread and scroll to the video I linked. Tell me what you think. Contrast that with the story the cops friend gave in an interview yesterday.

Already saw that and commented on it in the big thread...

It is most definitely interesting. I wonder if those people have made statements to the police? There are two different people that say things that lend credence to the officer's friend's story of how things went down.

I also mentioned, the friends account is pretty much bunk at this point since he was part of the robbery and failed to mention any of that. You def can't take his word now.

The other girl who has been the witness strung before the cameras keeps referring to Mike as if they were close friends. So she's got skin in the game.

Yeah, what people say to each other and what they are going to tell police is completely different.

Thats why I'd like to know if those that you can hear saying stuff like "He kept coming at him" (after he was shot) gave statements.

Someone posted a blurb in the big thread yesterday stating that the DA investigating had talked to witnesses backing the officers story, but has urged them to remain quiet and not come out public.

The whole St Louis metro is going to suffer terribly if this is a justified shooting or he is acquitted in court. The unrest will spread all over along racial lines.

Still much info to come out before solid judgments can be made, at least for me.

If he had paid for the cigars he would have still be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I'll go with the OP on this one. Michael's awareness of his own crime probably escalated the encounter, and it's difficult to imagine he'd be wrestling with the cop otherwise.

Unknown.

He could've died at that exact moment anyway.

The cop could have shot him for fun.

A meteor could have hit him.

He could've been crushed by a coke machine.

No. I don't think one event had anything to do with each other. Brown would still be a punk and the cop would still be a hothead. On the one hand, Brown never learned that you should always defer to cops because some of them are assholes and will kill you. On the other hand, the cop has to realize that he's the adult in the situation and a lot of teenagers are immature punks.

His main witness robbed the store with him so he has reason to lie. Just looking at the store video you can see the guy was a bully thug. The video was released to show that the witnesses veracity is not to be believed.

I think the guy was trying to hide the cigars under his coat or down his pants and the cop though he was going for a gun. The cigars was found on him, the first thing a thief does when the cops show up is to try and hide the evidence.

My friend, I do not know that actual height and weight of Mike Brown, but based on the video I have seen he was a fairly large young man (understatement). I seriously doubt the police officer reacted badly or even went rogue. I truly believe he feared for his life.

I don't want the young man dead, but I have a feeling he directly contributed to his own demise.
