I just watched a solid half of Mexican soccer for the first time.

I couldn't wait until tomorrow to start watching soccer and I snapped.
Tijuana vs Chiapas. I think I was watching it on a Spanish-language channel based here in the States.
Some observations about the game itself:
1. I was pretty impressed by the technique of a lot of the players.
2. Joe Corona played and played pretty well. He went the full 90 on the right of a 4-4-2.
3. Garza and Arriola didn't play, but I think they may be carrying knocks or something.
4. There wasn't nearly as much diving, floppy bitch-arse-ness as I was expecting. Most players tried staying on their feet instead of going to ground.
5. When players went to ground they generally stayed there longer than you see in MLS, the Prem, etc.
6. Xolos have some pretty sweet jerseys. IF I were to buy a Mexican league jersey, I would definitely get a Xolo jersey. I can't think of any other jersey I've seen that has quite that same look.
7. I definitely saw white people in the crowd. I know a decent amount of people from San Diego support the team and cross the border to go to games.
Some observations about watching Mexican TV:
1. The advertisements during the game are weird. A skinny, screen-long ad would appear every once in a while and then the commentators would provide a sort of voice-over type commercial. The other audio (cheers, field sounds, etc) was muted or greatly lowered. During the middle of one of these a goal was scored, and they still finished the "commercial" before acknowledging the goal. There was an ad for Budweiser and an ad for some dentist's office.
2. Super serious Al Pacino movies dubbed into Spanish are hilarious.
3. There was this commercial for a dentist's office right after the game ended and it started with the English-language version of the commercial, and then it transitioned to some woman speaking in Spanish in the waiting room and then to one of the dentists speaking Spanish himself. I was surprised to see how well some businesses are targeting the Hispanic community. I think this place was called Jefferson Dentistry or something really white-sounding like that.
4. When they displayed extra time at the end of the game, they showed that it was +5 and also had a 5 minute timer that counted down. I'm not sure why keeping the 90 minute clock counting up was such an issue.
Corona had an assist. It got partially deflected to his man but I think it was still pretty nice.
ETA:
I got curious and decided to figure out wtf a Xolo is. It's like a giant naked chihuahua from hell. And Xolo is short for Xoloitzcuintli. Don't ask me to pronounce that.

Yeah. You're about to be addicted. It's going to be intervention time in a few months.
Also, Corona played on the right? His assist is from the left, which is possible if he switching around like Bale and Ronaldo often do.

Yep, they are not the ones that work on roofs or do dry wall and cross the border.

enjoyed the post. . .
I wish the Xolos and their new stadium would have been around when I was in graduate school in San Diego.

Its really actually a fun league to watch and follow (cruz azul FTW)
I grew up on the border in soTx so always had univision, telemundo, azteca, galavision, fox espanol, tc which was clutch since they would also show things like copa america, the euros, wc qualifiers etc
The commercials are def interesting...bimbo makes some tasty products
The match times are good as well...usually friday nights throygh sunday evenings. Seems like sat night and sunday afternoon always have the best games.
