1 chance at helm

Yeah, it seems like everyone (for the most part) got what they needed to get to 30 all at once. I hope we can get all of us at 30 before Iron Banner is done. Would be epic

Just finish it in hard with your near 30 guy and then run it again on another character.
If you need shards/energy, hit up the daily and go to destinypublicevents.com to find a PE for shards/energy. Or break down some weapons and/or armor that you're not going to use (make sure it's not a VoC
).
