New Temporary Signal @ W. Lakeshore Dr. & E. Parker Blvd. Intersection
Due to unforeseen issues, installation of the traffic signal at W. Lakeshore Dr. & E. Parker Blvd. was delayed. However the signal has been installed and will be turned on the morning of Friday, Aug. 15, 2014. At that time, it will be in “Caution” mode so the LSU community can become accustomed to the new traffic control device.
While in “Caution” mode the light will be functioning as follows: if approaching the intersection on W. Lakeshore (from Stanford) or on South Stadium (from Highland) the lights will be flashing yellow. If approaching on East Parker (from Highland) and on West Lakeshore (from the Fraternity/Sorority area) the light will be flashing red.
LSU Police would like to remind all drivers that as per Louisiana law, you should not stop for a flashing yellow signal, but should proceed through the intersection with caution. Also, you should treat the flashing red signal the same as a stop sign, coming to a complete stop and yielding to cross traffic before proceeding through the intersection. On the morning of Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, the signal will be changed to normal function and should be treated as a typical signalized intersection. The temporary signals will remain while the intersection is being studied and a permanent solution can be designed and constructed.
As previously stated, the new configuration will be monitored by the city and LSU and changes will be made as necessary. Thank you for your cooperation as LSU and the city work to make this campus safer for the traveling public.

Can we please do the right thing and swap the traffic signal changes at e Boyd and Jennifer Jean.

I can see why they are doing it. It will be useful once it's a full function signal. The traffic there in the afternoons is always bad and lots of accidents.
It's not really needed at times other than the morning and afternoon rushes.

Did people ever learn how to use the one on Burbank? I lost track of that thread and haven't been to BR in a couple months.

Brilliant to begin this on August 14

I thought they said they were planning to completely remove the light at E. Boyd/Burbank in early August, but it was still up (and covered) a few days ago. At least Burbank drivers were no longer stopping (when I was there), but people from E. Boyd were still going straight across instead of making the "right-turn only".

The request for a roundabout was denied.
For the record, the intersection has it's fair share of wrecks and idiot drivers.

They shut that intersection down once a week during the semester for a student wreck. Probably for the best if they turn it into "caution" mode outside of peak hours.

I can see why they are doing it, but they should have learned by now that putting in flashing lights for a smooth transition does not work around here.
