Sounds like they've cleared out the area enough that the folks up there can finally get off.
FOX had a heartbreaking report on UK helicopters delivering food and taking people off. One of the helicopters was so overloaded with people that it crashed, killing the pilot and several of the refugees.

Good news that there are no longer tens of thousands up besieged up there.
I note that the US State Dept is taking full credit for the Obama Administration in breaking the siege.
That's the topic for another thread, but, it's obvious that the Regime wants full credit for all that is good and will blame Republicans for all that is bad.

Oh yeah, that article was lavishing the administration with praise. And while the airstrikes most likely did help break the siege. There is still a lot of work to be done. Not to mention figuring out what our desired endstate for Iraq is.

You sure it wasn't Iraqi AF helo's bc thats everything i've seen. Nothing on the news about any brits dying here.
Even the door gunner on the helo was shooting at IS with refuguees on board.

It's my understanding that the Turkish Kurds were the ones who freed the bulk of them (45k out of 50k) no?

It was an Iraqi army helo with a NYT reporter injured. Crash killed the Iraqi pilot

Should Obama not get credit for some of the success? I mean, he is the one who ordered the air strikes and humanitarian drops to help out the Yazidi.
ETA: While other nations, and the Iraqi AF, may be the ones who are actually evacuating the Yazidi that wouldn't be possible without the airstrikes that softened the ISIL siege.

And if the rescue helos have already taken enemy ground fire, then, I wonder if the reason why there are fewer people needing rescue is that many have been shot dead by ISIL.
I doubt that the Obama Admin will give us all of the facts, because, completely informing the public has never been their strong suit. Using, shaping and twisting information for their own political benefit is their strong suit.

I doubt it. There were 30,000 something civilians up there. We wouldn't have moved them by helicopter anyway except for maybe the elderly and wounded. What would have most likely happened is we would have facilitated their withdrawal from the mountain by opening up a corridor. Mostly with special forces and Peshmerga troops and provided air support. There would have been US Troops and doctors waiting for at a safe zone to receive them.
