CNN is reporting that U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., used taxpayer funds to fly to a campaign function.

According to the article, Landrieu took a $3,200 charter flight on a 400-mile round trip from New Orleans to Lake Charles in November to attend a $40 per plate fundraiser.

The fundraiser was Landrieu's reason for not attending an event with President Barack Obama when he visited the Port of New Orleans.
The flight might have violated federal law....

Cassidy criticized Landrieu for not being more aware of invoices flowing through her office. He also questioned why Landrieu only addressed the error after USA Today began investigating her travel.

Meh. I kind of thought they all did this kind of crap. I guess the rule is based around if it was an official campaign event or not.
Hell Bobby J has spend half his time in office it seems flying all over the country to "campaign".

Let's hope all media outlets band together to do their job for once and help oust this bitch from office.

They probably won't, and the jackasses who vote for her would probably stick their heads in the sand as well.

Who cares?

Mary is indispensable to the state because she chairs a big committee and Obama talks to her every day.

And the media just now realizes this happens all the time?

She blamed the plane company even though someone in her office had to submit the bill for payment

Is that wrong? Was she not supposed to do that? Did anyone tell her it was frowned upon...

This. Landrieu and Jindal should both be criticized for it.

However, only the partisan Democrats will get outraged by Jindal and only the partisan Republicans will get outraged at Landrieu.

No wonder she used taxpayer money. You can't make any dough at $40 a pop. Damn she's desperate these days.

I'm thinking the fundraiser was for a local school board candidate or something, and that Mary just needed an excuse to be out of town when Obama arrived in town.

God I hope so. 200 people at 40 per plate doesn't really justify a 3200 flight.
In her defense, I would pay $10k not to be stuck talking to Obama

According to the thread yesterday, many people think it's OK for politicians to take personal trips on the taxpayer dime. Even though "the cupboard is bare!".
