Saw it mentioned in the Hook thread and I happened to put it on my watchlist yesterday. Is it good?

There's a reason it bombed at the Box Office. It was really terrible. That said, I'd probably watch it again.

A few cast members:

Dan Aykroyd
Ned Beatty
John Belushi
Christopher Lee
Tim Matheson
Robert Stack
Treat Williams
John Candy
Slim Pickens
Michael McKean

It's most definitely worth a watch

Thought it was one of Belushi's better movies.

I love this movie. Surprised to hear it didn't do well at the box office.

Everybody involved was coked out of their minds. Bob Woodward writes about it in his book on Belushi.

Yeah the cast is impressive but I never hear this movie mentioned much when people mention their favorite comedies

Has some funny moments, but it's a fricking mess.

It's a solid comedy with some brilliant moments. The reason I listed the cast is to point out that a cast like that could make your local elementary school's production of "Gift of the Magi" worth going to see.

This wasn't one of them.

Yes, it has a wonderful cast.
Yes, it has some funny moments.
It is still a terrible movie.

I have never seen this. Well, I have something to que up later.

I don't mind watching bad movies if they have some redeeming qualities.

I always thought it was okay, but it had added appeal, being an R rated movie I was able to sneak in and see when it came out.

It seems like it could have been a huge blockbuster like Animal House or Stripes. It just lacked something. I don't really know what, just something. To me, it's like Animal House meets A Christmas Story meets American Graffiti but they just couldn't make it work.

These two stole the show for me, funny stuff. Robert Stack as the General and the Japanese sub crew were also good. Oh and the ferris wheel.
Where it bombed was with the Animal House crew.

There's been an attempt to rehab the film's image and reappraise it as a lost classic...

.. and those efforts have largely failed. Because the movie is pretty terrible. I think this failure is what made Spielberg so successful. He learned from this failure. But it was a failure.

Worth watching just for the Slim Pickens scenes.

Hey, boy. Watch that knife.
