GD that was quick.

ETA: I was hoping the Sterlings would still own the team. I think I have a bet with someone on whether or not Chris Paul would refuse to play.

After some temporary hurdles, Ballmer's $2 billion purchase of the team has now apparently been finalized and he can count himself among the league's 30 owners.

2 billion?

That's insane. Now if the Buss family can sell the Lakers, I will be a happy man.

Thanks. My filter must be blocking out half the article or something.

$2B for an NBA team seems crazy. I know that's the figure that's been kicked around for some time, but damn. Wonder how that will impact the market for sports franchises. I don't think the frickin Cowboys have ever been valued that high.

If he moves the team anywhere it would be to Anaheim. That would make more sense than having two NBA teams in the same building.

Why. Seems like a "best case" end for all. NBA got what they wanted. Sterling family got what they wanted. Sterling himself just booked $1B on a $30M investment that was worth less than his 50% cut a few years ago.

a really rich guy wanted to own a team as a toy so he way overbid his competitors, I don't think it will over inflate the values of other teams.
