I don't think superstition and ethics really play into to it. It's more a judgment on one's state of mind. If you hate someone who makes his living playing a game without some other legitimate cause, you have issues. I think AJ McCarron is a douche, but I don't want to see him fail let alone get injured. I won't care if he fails, but I wish him the best.

Not like a career threatening injury. I don't think I'm a psycho if I want a player that's tearing my favorite team to shreds to twist his ankle or something.
And I don't think I hate any player. I used to, but oddly enough I wouldn't want players I hated to get injuries. I'd want my team to beat them at their best to see that look on their face.
