What do y'all think of the Assad regiem since ISIS has become such a force in Syria? Personally I think for regional stability he is the better option to have in power (both are terrible, I'm talking about the lesser of two evils).

I really think if ISIS gains anymore ground it will draw Iran into the conflict since they have close allies in Iraq and Syria.

ISIS wants no part of Iran

Iran has been waiting for years to finally flex its military again.

It looks like Putin had it right on Syria. And just think, Obama was all set to take Assad out a year ago, to make room for ISIS.

Saddam's Iraq was a lot stronger than Al-Maliki's Iraq.

How is Urban Meyer going to fight ISIS off with football right around the corner.

Talk about burning the candle at both ends.

Syria and ISIS don't exist in a bubble...the toppling of Saddam and the disbanding/firing of Sunni Baathists are directly related.

.

Saddam had greater control because he ruled using fear & intimidation. He studied Stalin tactics & began murdering his enemies on day 1. And like Stalin there was order.

He was also a Sunni and he and his Sunni brethren ruled the roost...they weren't disenfranchised by the US invasion and replaced by their religious nemesis so there was no reason for them to go all ISIS.

This X 1000000
ISIS wants no part of any stable country with a military. ISIS will not expand past the Iraqi border. The Iranians, Saudi's or Turks aint goona let a few assholes in toyoyas bother them for long. The idiots that think they are taking over the region are just looking for something to get their panties in a wad about.
