Thanks to some lightning, I need a new router and modem. I know zero about either, so please recommend me something that is fast and holds a good connection.
Can I go with an all in one or do I need to separate the two? I have Cox internet with 75mbps.

What is your budget

I took my rented modem back to Comcast today & applied the $8.00 monthly rental fee to an upgrade to their 50 Mbps "Blast" for a net increase of $2.00 for double the bandwidth. Sure enough, getting 50+ on hardwired devices, better throughput on wireless but as expected using my Netgear WNDR3400V2, no range performance boost. I bit the bullet & pulled the trigger on a ASUS RT-AC68U today. I don't have many clients to take full advantage of what it offers but should be in good shape for quite a while. Based on the CNET review, as of now it's pretty much unmatched and I might add, priced accordingly. If it pans out I'll post a comment here, should have it installed by this weekend.

I bought this one this weekend, set it up and it's working great.

I have recently upgraded my modem and router and have been very happy with both. This is the modem I got. I also got an Apple Airport Express for a router. Have had zero issues and blazing fast.
