Where to get this lapel pin appraised? (History Experts Needed)

My great grandfather gave me this lapel pin awhile back and I just recently found it when looking through some old stuff. Apparently it is extremely old and has some history behind it. The only problem is that there isn't any type of brand or serial on it.
Where do you get things like these appraised or figure out what it is from?
TIA

Could be a Sons of Confederate Veterans pin, I'd start with that.

Don't be one of those turds that sells a family heirloom for $75. Never understand that on those shows. Value it because it came from your family. Plus, the stars and bars is certain to start lots of entertaining conversations. Wear it to NOLA during Bayou Classic weekend.

I would bet this it true. I know I had that same exact pin when I was a little kid and I wore it every day for like a year when I was 5 because I was a Dukes of Hazzard fan!
