"It's a testament to Nick Saban that he did such a good job raising LSU from the dead that even a decade after his departure from the school, LSU has been good for so long that most people don't even remember the disastrous 1980s and 1990s."

LSU football success over the last 15 years is due to the "House That Nick Built". Can't argue with it. Great article.

no doubt nick helped bring LSU out of the terrible 90's, but it's not like he's maintained the success from 2005 to present.

using that logic, bama should have never had a down year after bear bryant left.

Yes, and the Miami Dolphins have won 4 Superbowls since he sneaked out the back door.

Well, at least Miles has gone from the next Larry Coker or Ron Zook to someone who can manage to maintain the program in the eyes of the media.

Wasn't that quote from an online article putting LSU at like the 8th best places to coach or something like that?

The decade in which the Tigers won an outright SEC title ('86), shared another ('88) & had the best record in the SEC of teams not on probation ('84)? Also, LSU did win 63% of its games w/ only 3 losing seasons. Yes, the 80s don't compare in greatness to the results this century. Comparing the 80s to the nightmarish 90s is a sign of a lack of research or knowledge of LSU football history.

Nothing to be sorry for. I wasn't criticizing your thread at all. I just wanted to put the link up in case anyone wanted to check it out.

Nicks impact was immensely more significant, but LSUs resurgence started with Faulk and Dinardo.

It's funny, I'm watching a game where lsu dominates spurrier and Florida and runs all over bob stoops defense. We've got more nfl guys all over the field than that Florida team, and they played there for a while. What's really strange though is that when they show the coach on the sideline, it's not Saban.
