I wasn't a big fan of the first movie although I also didn't hate it. Sure I found a few things wrong with it but if you didn't notice, I never mentioned hating the movie.

Review of The Amazing Spiderman

So right off the bat, Father Parker has his passcode revoked and the security doors close while a siren blares, yet he is still able to get away from somewhere up in the top of the building without security getting him.

Mother & Father Parker want to get away. They know they are going to be chased and yet instead of fleeing in secrecy they charter a super high end jet to get away.

Is it just me or does the opening shot with Spiderman appear almost cartoonish. It looks like the effects are worse in this movie. That isn't nitpicking. They really do look almost video game animation quality.

Uh oh! I hate to follow up an is it just me with another is it just me but is it just me or did they ramp up the camp. Paul Giamatti is channeling Dr Freeze.

I didn't find the dialog in the first film to be Lucasian but dear god:

"Hello Pedestrians"
"Hello Mr. Criminal"

Instead of jumping in the truck Spiderman swings away to help Ray Charles, while just allowing Dr Freeze to slam into 3 cars probably killing or paralyzing the occupants. Then he goes on to give Ray Charles a pep talk.

Ok. The whole Bald Paul section of the movie was downright embarrassing. From terrible effects, overuse of slow motion, bad acting, and the corny spider man theme song.

Maybe if Peter tried a little harder to actually protect his identity, we wouldn't have to rehash the breakup plot from the end of the first movie.

I have to admit I am getting a bit of a chuckle out of Crazy Max.

How would Peter come to the conclusion his parents abandoned him? They died in a plane crash immediately after leaving him with his grandparent. I spent lots of time with my grandparents and never thought I was being abandoned.

Spidey Stalker got busted. Just once a day. Sometimes more. Check please!

Dear god, someone make the slow motion stop. Please think of the children.

What a load of crap. Electric Ray send out bolts that cause massive pieces of buildings to explode. He electrifies metal all over the place yet they don't show a single human getting even a scratch.

I guess the director reads the MB and saw your disdain for collateral damage.

So the cops just turned over a maniac monster to Oscorp? Wouldn't the feds have moved him to their secret lair for testing.

Did I miss something? If Harry knows one of the Oscorp spiders created Spiderman then why isn't he running into the spider den to get bitten. I sure hope they don't want us to believe the spiders were one of the programs that was discontinued because that would mean Peter doesn't have access to any more webbing.

Gwen walks forward into the elevator yet is SHOCKED to see someone in the car with her.

Colm Feore is probably wondering whether he should have stayed in the underverse instead of appearing in this midden heap.

Really??? Evil German Scientist. This movie has it all.

So now Aunt May is forwarding the bullshite abandonment story. Maybe if his parents disappeared without a trace they could go this route but they DIED in a plane crash immediately after dropping him off. Geez, melodrama for no purpose other than to give Sally Field some screen time.

Please explain to me why Peter won't give some of his blood to Harry. They are supposed to be friends and Harry is clearly dying. The whole nonsense about how he could become something worse, is just that nonsense. Is Peter something worse? Sure it is probably going to turn him into the Green Goblin, but Peter has no real reason to believe this.

How about giving him some blood so he can test it to see if he can figure out how to make a serum to cure his diseased body?

I actually like how the good guys basically created the bad guys by being dicks. Although Peter's reluctance seems a bit contrived and irrational. I don't have problems with cops going a bit over the top with the Electric Ray.

Oh great. More peter web sliging without his costume. What was even the point of him dropping down on Gwen like that. There are security cameras ALL over big cities. How about just have him show up near her. Why show him actually swinging in without his costume? Sloppy.

Well at least they stated the spiders were dead but then where is Peter getting his super strong endless supply of webbing? Also glad to see they explained why the spider venom worked its magic on Peter and nobody else.

In the ridiculous underground railcar, what kept the lab cultures alive? When did Peter's dad have the time to build that secret lair and why did he do it since he seemed to find out about the nefarious funding and use of the research soon before he died?

Yay! Finally some people actually got killed.

Ok. How in the F can spiderman defeat Electric Ray? He can dematerialize. He can turn himslef into pure energy and attack in that state. Seems a bit overpowered for Spidey.

Too bad the goblin didn't put on the magic suit first since it had super healing powers.

Spidey is pretty much invulnerable to damage and somehow impervious to insane amounts of voltage? Who knew?

I don't even want to go into the stupidity of the Gwen plot at the end. Glad to know a chick 1 year removed from high school knows pretty much everything about everything. Girl power!

The power was off because Elctric Ray absorbed all of the energy and also damaged and tore apart the grid, but Gwen pulling a lever magically brings everything back up. I see the writers are fans of Doctor Who.

I'm going to assume air traffic control has a completely separate power system. Not going to look it up because I don't want the NSA on my doorstep tomorrow morning. No doubt they at least have backup generators.

Turrible ending. I don't buy for a second he could have defeated Electro.

I already miss Crazy Max.

Is poor Pete ever going to have another love interest. His greatest fears came to fruition so not sure how he would ever mentally recover from that.

The movie started with shitty Bald Paul and ended with shitty Bald Paul.

This movie was simply too long. It could have been good. The entire Bald Paul plot should have been cut. Almost every scene with Sally Field should have hit the floor. There were some answers which was better than the first movie but overall bloated plot and pacing weigh this one down.

Oh and just like the first movie, there was a lot of post filming story changes. They evidently removed a LOT (ALL) of scenes with Mary Jane.

Since she was cut, here is an old thread with red heads. Only read page 3.

Only saw it once, so I almost need to see if I still hate it as much as I did on the first viewing.

Yeah the whole Blood thing made absolutely no sense. It's like they wanted to give Harry a reason to be evil but couldn't. Elder Osborne was already bed-ridden/dead so you couldn't have Spidey be responsible for that.

I hated Captain Stacey "warning" Peter the entire movie. It makes Spider-Man look like such a dumbass when Gwen dies.

If Paul Giamatti is in the 3rd movie, then I won't even take the time to download it.

His acting really was straight out of the absolute worst of the Campy Batman movies.

Why did Peter's parents think he would be safe with them hiding out of the country? If they feared for their lives, wouldn't it make sense that Oscorp would kidnap Peter to bring the Parental Parkers out of hiding?

Yep, this is where I completely gave up on the film. Peter was just being a dick, and kind of deserved what was coming to him. If he's your actual best friend, you would at least give it a shot. What's the worst that could happen? Certainly seems better than dying.

Remember in the movie they weren't exactly normal best friends.

When Peter went to see Harry after his dad died it was a very awkward scene. They haven't seen each other in a long time and obviously didn't have the same connection anymore.

And the worst that can happen? A fate worse than death. He has seen electro and battled the lizard. He's seen that people can go mad with power and he knows the costs that having those powers bring with it. He had broken up with Gwen and seen people he cared for die. Plus if he gave Harry some spiderman blood it would take about a second for Harry and the entirety of oscorp to know spidermans true identity.

I actually have liked the movies. Spidermans character has been great.

The initial meeting was strained but they bonded again.

Heck, Peter has NO friends. In two movies they haven't shown him even talking to another friend so Harry's illness should be a huge deal to him.

Once again, giving a vial of blood to test shouldn't be a problem. Just allowing Harry to die a painful death is a dick move.

Identity? Peter doesn't give a crap. He spent half the first movie slinging around without a mask and as I pointed out, he STUPIDLY was slinging around completely out of costume in this movie.

That's the price of spiderman. He can't put anyone at danger.

I explained the problems above. Weaponizing his blood, it turning Harry into a super villain, revealing his identity, etc...

No, its evidently the price of being a dick. He didn't appear to have any friends before or after he became Spiderman.

Since Peter is able to control his abilities, about the worst outcome he should be thinking of is that Harry becomes like Spidey. He is a dick for allowing his friend to die in pain rather than giving him the blood.

So far you are the only person who doesn't think he was a dick for not at least taking the chance.

Drew Brees would give his friend a chance to live even with consequences. Better than dying in agony.

Dear god I had forgotten about this shite. As if this movie wasn't melodramatic enough, they had to cram in this shite, as if we give a frick about the planes. Do we really need to be hit over the head that if this psycho can bring down the power grid bad shite will happen? I think even the dumbest moviegoer could come to that conclusion on their own.

In addition to the MJ stuff being taken out, they also cut out a scene where Peter's dad shows up to give him some advice at Gwen's grave

This movie sucked so much arse. I didn't mind the first one, I actually liked it better than the Raimi trash (1 and 3, SM2 was really good), but there is just too much going on in this movie and a lot of it is really really bad. Electro was Batman and Robin-esque. Dane DeHaan, LOL he was terrible.

Is Peter a Jedi? Is this why he can see dead people?

Did Oscorp splice midi-chlorians into the spiders?

Completely disagree. Toby was a nerdish everyman, but Garfield was just a little douchebag.

I didn't care for Electro, but on the whole I liked the movie a lot. I guess I'm the only one. It had a lot of humor and enough action and was fun to watch.
