I must brag about my experience with ATT phone insurance

So my iPhone 5 screen shattered (although still usable) 2 months ago while moving into our new home. I delayed getting the phone fixed for some time because I never found a store around town that would repair it for under $125.

Well in the mean time, ATT changes the structure of their insurance plans to now say if you have been enrolled for over a year, your deductible decreases from $199 to $99. Great! Of course I jump on the idea because now I get a replacement for less than it would cost me to just replacement the front screen of a year and half old phone.

So, I make my claim, everything goes smooth and they overnight me a device in one day. Awesome. To my surprise, they send me a brand NEW replacement iPhone still in it's Apple wrapped box. BUT not just an iPhone 5 (as I had previously had), they send my a brand spanking new iPhone 5S…. in box, with all the bells and whistles.

Kudos to ATT. I was skeptical making a claim at first, but definitely glad I did.

How much do you pay per month for the insurance and how long have you been paying it?

$10 monthly premiums and I had just reached my one year mark in July. Timing couldn't have been better.

So you paid $120 in a year for a $100 discount.

That's awesome they gave you the new phone but I have broken my phone and replaced it for 200 without insurance. I don't see the need for it.

There are plenty of folks who will replace the screen for under 100$

Same thing happened to me about 4-5 months ago, but my deductible was $199 still.

Yeah that's why I've always thought the insurance on these was bogus

That's how I operate. I self-insure because it's cheaper and I'll do the work myself. No cases and I've only shattered one out of my six iPhones.

This is not a bad plan though through AT&T. I've had beef with AT&T in the past but in general, they do right by us most of the time.

See if you can schedule your phone under your homeowners policy. Usually its cheaper per year and no deductible for repair or replacement
