Members of the B1G, SEC, ACC, PAC 12 and Big 12 only scheduling each other for non conference games in football? This would be awesome...make it happen! Having said that, this will no doubt force another round of expansion. No way do programs like UConn, Cincinnati, BYU or Boise St sit by and lose out on MILLIONS of dollars and become essentially the FCS. I have been saying this for a long time, expansion is NOT over yet. 16 team conferences are inevitable imo. Again, this would be great for college football. I cant stand watching Ohio St beat up on Kent St.

I like it, but it would hurt all the small state schools that count on their rent a win check

Good idea, but this won't happen. As much as we hate big schools beating up smaller schools, the smaller schools love the games because they get paid.

Maybe, but by splitting this, those schools wouldnt be forced to pay the "full cost of tuition" that the Big 5 are going to implement. Lets be real, now those schools will have a chance to win a title at the FCS level. This is actually great news for the FCS as well. The FCS would get a lot better.

pretty much kills off those small schools that rely on the money games to cover a big part of their budget. By killing those programs, you also kill the opportunity of many guys to go to college.

Disagree, in the article some of the coaches are saying this is the only real "fair" way to judge non league schedules when selecting the 4 playoff teams. This WILL happen. Its already beginning with the "full cost of tuition" that these schools will be financing. I love it!!

I thought it was interesting that Petersen voted yes for this. Boise State fans won't like that too much. It doesn't surprise me that the Pac-12 was the most in favor of it though.

So explain to me then how schools like Montana and such survive? Most of the FCS schools manage to survive. Id say that the schools that cant manage are living outside of their means then. Those smaller schools will just have to adapt!

Which is why i think another round of expansion is coming. UConn isnt being left out!

It would eliminate a lot of home games for the bigger schools.

True, Or look at it like this, it could mean more league games and more money for those teams. Ohio State would get more money from the BTN for playing 14 B1G games (7 home, 7 away) and lose home games, then playing 9-10 home games and having to pay Kent State to come take a beating! I want all big 5 games!

The games against small schools are awful. The fans don't care about the game so the stadium is half full, the players know they are going to win so they half-arse it.

This is a great idea, screw the small schools

This is what i say...and honestly i dont know why those schools wouldnt be all for it either. It now gives them a chance to win a championship. NOBODY from the MAC, Sun Belt, CUSA, MWC, or WAC will ever get into the 4 team playoffs, so whats the point? Those conferences drop down and merge with the current FCS and make a really good product in their own right. Hell the FCS playoffs would be awesome to watch too! I think its a win win.

The small schools will fall to their natural level based on real revenue generated and market demand for their product. Take away those rent-a-win paydays and massive institutional (taxpayer) support and you could have nice regional conferences re-emerge, like the old Gulf States Conference. Imagine NW St, LA Tech, ULM, McNeese, ULL, SLU, and Nicholls St. getting together; even adding in other state schools like UNO and LSUS (would have to add football) or close-by like Lamar, SFA, and/or Sam Houston State.

They could operate much more cheaply than they currently do.

I actually think it would help those teams become better programs. I mean think about it, how many small and FCS schools are 0-4 before they even start league play? Now they could schedule each other and have a REAL oppurtunity to grow their programs against natural competition. Those small school have been living outside of their means for 30+ years. I really think that this would be good for both the Big 5 and the FCS financially and athletically.

I'm sure they don't want to sit out, but if no one takes them there is really nothing they can do. This isn't the prom and you can go stag.

BTW UCONN and Cincinnati will make more money this year than 80% of the teams in the Big 5 conferences.

Except for the dumbfricks who think the FCS/Division II/DIII national championships aren't "real."

The first step to playing all Big 5 opponents just happend! Now that the Big 5 has autonomy to govern itself, the playing field is now uneven.
