No. Players today would run circles around them. The fitness training is just so much better. The tactical awareness is leaps and bounds beyond what it was 40 years ago. Modern players are just better.
Now, if you want to suppose those players from the 70s would have trained and practiced like professionals today do, then you have an argument. A world class player from the 70s would develop into a world class player in any generation given the same training as players of that era. However, if you drop take Messi or Ronaldo as they are now and drop them into the 70s, they would dominate on a level never before seen.
