Defeating everything else on primetime (both broadcast and network television) on a nightly basis in these markets.
Shows why these local TV deals are getting so huge in baseball. While the national ratings have declined recently, the local ratings are absolutely skyrocketing.

According to the information from Nielsen, of the 29 U.S.-based clubs in the league, 12 of them are the #1-rated programming in prime time since the start of the season in their home markets, beating both broadcast and cable competition. These teams include the Detroit Tigers, St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Indians, Milwaukee Brewers, Baltimore Orioles, Kansas City Royals, Seattle Mariners, Boston Red Sox, San Francisco Giants, and Arizona Diamondbacks.
Another 7 teams rank in the top three in local prime time TV ratings on their respective RSNs, including the Tampa Bay Rays, Minnesota Twins, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Yankees, Atlanta Braves, San Diego Padres, and Colorado Rockies.

Thank God. I thought no one would ever dethrone The Price is Right and General Hospital.

The Astros aren't even listed LOL. What a disaster of an organization and fanbase-killing TV deal.

I know the stands are always empty. If you've been to a MLB game you will notice that crowds are full of people of all ages as well.
People who say baseball is boring and dying are as bad as the people who say soccer is boring and it will never become popular in the US.
What do you care? How does someone watching baseball affect your life?

Cause all they show is the fricking Yanks and Red Sox. Say what you want but people are tired of watching those two.

I think this says a lot more about the current quality of primetime TV, not the popularity of baseball.
Cincy is absolutely playing terrible right now and are the #1 primetime ranking. I wouldn't call us bandwagon fans, but I have a hard time tuning in to see them suck it up and I consider myself a decent fan.

I dont think the big money deals are for their ratings, but rather for their demographics...
