About three months ago I got Netflix and HBO. So far I've gone through Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Silicon Valley, Band of Brothers, Generation Kill, and just finished up Curb Your Enthusiasm.

I'd like to find a show that I can either complete or catch up on by the time football season starts. Options that catch my eye are House of Cards, The Wire, Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire, and Oz. Out of these options, which is the best choice?

You watched an insane amount of TV in that time frame.

sopranos and boardwalk aren't good binge material...so much going on in the dialogue and body language...it's good to pace yourself on those

I vote Oz

slight hijack

i finally got around to watching the sopranos. i'm on either episode 8 or 9 of season 1 and i just don't like it at all so far. i'm sure it gets a lot better but is this the general tone and direction of the show? if so i should stop now

Yeah no kidding. I'd try working in some movies with all that tv watching.

season 1 definitely isn't as good as the others. However, the show is about Tony's life (his family and his job) and how the two are so different yet occasionally intersect.

It's hard to say, what are you looking for? I don't think it is an enjoyable "binge" show. It is something that strikes your interest and as you watch week to week it builds. I'd feel exhausted if I binged on the sopranos personally.

I sort of felt the same way watching CYE. It's hilarious but to binge watch Larry can be exhausting.

Sopranos is probably the greatest series ever put on television...if you wanted romanticized mafia then it's not for you.

Betas wasn't bad.

I am watching Utopia (UK) right now. Yes, I drop the name of this show every chance I get.

Finished this up yesterday. Glad it was only 7 episodes otherwise I probably wouldn't have finished it.

don't really know what this means but i didn't have any preconceived notions of what it should be. i just finished binge watching the wire so i guess my expectations are pretty high right now. it must get A LOT better if some claim it's the greatest series ever put on television
