If an LSU game is not on CBS, ESPN, or CFN will it then be on the SEC network ?

What channel on say cox will it be on and will there be an additional charge or a higher programming tier ?

The SEC Network will be there alongside ESPN, it won't replace it for SEC teams. I don't know the exact TV selection order, but SEC teams will still be on CBS and ESPN, along with the SEC Network.

It's basically an additional ESPN station but only for the SEC

CBS gets first pick
ESPN, ESPN 2, SEC Network, ESPN u follow it up, along with ABC for non conference games (Wisconsin).

There are games are on the morning and mid day time slots

This, in a way, answers why ESPN has been so pro bama for the last two years. They needed to "brand" the sec network. ESPN doesn't love gumps, they love money.

Of course they love money. Follow the money when anything doesn't make sense. It will never lead you astray.

Supposed to be in the Cox Sports & Information pak. That is the same pak that has ESPNU No channel number assigned yet but it will be active Aug. 14th.

SEC Network will show three games a week. I would assume that the SEC Network is putting bigger games on Week 1 (A&M/USC, Auburn/Arkansas) in order to get customers to put pressure on the cable/satellite companies. However, I would imagine that most of the games that the network will show will be the ones that ended up on CSS, FSN, and SEC TV in previous years.

I could be wrong, though.

I heard this morning on the radio that it will be on Ch 82/1082 on Cox. Not sure if that is true or not.

Directv channel 611. Every SEC game will be replayed during week also. No more having to pay Tigervision for LSU/Idaho etc

ESPN needed the SEC HQ to approve the deal. We've already proven the SEC HQ will do anything to promote their home state and favorite team so ESPN knew what it would take.

Go back a few years ago and look at the ESPN coverage just prior to Alabama being chosen for the BCS game. They ran pro-Alabama crap all weekend while doing everything possible to slam Oklahoma State. This had more to do with securing the SEC Network and television ratings than trying to select the two most deserving teams.

Anyone who trusts ESPN and the SEC HQ to do the right thing is nuts. It's ALL about money for one and ALL about taking care of their own for the other.

ESPN has been "pro Bama" because Bama has been the best program over the last 6 years. I know you may not want to hear that, but it's true. If Auburn, OSU, Notre Dame, LSU, whoever, rips off a 6 year span like that, the major networks will be "pro (insert team)" at that time. Funny, these were the same complaints we heard 7,8,9 years ago except it was USC, not Bama, that LSU fans were whining about.

To the OP, the SECN is just another ESPN channel dedicated solely to SEC coverage. At least for now, there will be no noticeable changes except that there is no longer a "JP" game on some blurry non HD channel. That game will be on the SECN.

Gameday will still travel to SEC venues. CBS will still have the "big game" @ 2:30. ESPN will still have the second pick (though the coverage may say it's on the "SEC network"). Football wise, everything will be the same for the most part

I guess you'll have to wait until football season is over to determine their programming content. Since Alabama has historically sucked at everything other than football, gymnastics, and softball...you would expect to see very little of them after the football season has ended.

I'm guessing that won't be the case because I don't believe the SEC HQ will allow it. Just like the SEC's internet site, I'm sure Alabama will receive more than their fair share of coverage in other sports.

Do you really believe we play the baseball tourney in Hoover EVERY year because there are no other parks in the 11-state region? Do you think we have a bowl tie-in in Birmingham because it's a desirable city to host a game? The SEC HQ represents one of the 11 states and one (occasionally two) of the 14 member institutions.

I changed the channel to 1082 on cox and it says SECNHD "temporarily off air." So looks like you are right.
