I work in the gas and oil industry and currently rough necking it offshore in the gulf. 2 weeks on. 2 weeks off.

I am recently married and my wife is worried (oh geez) I will mess up my wedding ring and wants me to use wear an "alternative" one when I am offshore so I do not lose or damage my real one (that bitch is expensive). My plan is to leave my real ring at home or in my truck and wear the alt one while at work.

I have been looking into simple Tungsten rings online and just wondering if anyone else has an opinion on this.

Option 1
LINK
I really like this one. Sorta diggin the black look.

Option 2
LINK
The wife is set on this one. I dont really like it as much. I'm probably going to pull the trigger on Option 1

Thanks in advance bros!

Tattoo on your ring finger is the best solution.

I paid $30 for a titanium ring from Overstock. It works fine.

Both look fine to me. I'd say go with your choice cause she won't even be seeing you in it, but you'll be wearing it all the time.

I am sure you aren't supposed to be wearing any jewelry while you are out there.

I went black, and won't be going back.

ETA: But yea, I wouldn't wear one while working on a rig.

Don't wear your ring at work unless you want to end up possibly losing a finger.

You can get tungsten rings for MUCH cheaper fyi.

If you can find codes(look online) for JVL's website you can get them for like $25 each.

We got a giftcard for JVL at a bridal show and used it to buy alternative bands for both of us. Giftcard was for for two bands and they sent us another giftcard for two bands. You pay like $25 for shipping.

My husband wears his tungsten band all the time and only wears the "nicer" one(his grandfather's wedding band) when visiting his parents or when he gets dressed up.

Sounds like the real problem is you taking orders from your wife. Tell her your on a rig with a bunch of guys so no ring is needed. Then tell her to make a sammich and look pretty

how about not wear one when you are on the rig, then wear the expensive one( ) when you are home

That seems like the most logical idea.

His wife want to make sure all the other men on the rig know her man is married??

Tungsten on Amazon for $20.

That said, why would you wear a ring offshore? Seems dangerous and unnecessary.

I guess. seems kind of odd to me, that she is requesting/demanding he wear his ring on the rig

Well at least I learned about those rubber/silicone wedding rings from this thread.

I'm very intrigued, might buy one just to see if I really can hike/workout with it on. They say they stretch so that might work.
