My crawfish pot has never had a mark on it. Used my new fry pot/burner and pot was literally black, had to scrub it like a bastard.

What's the deal here?

not enough air in the fuel stream...look for a way to adjust it upstream of the burner...

fwiw, if you can't adjust it to burn correctly, just rub a thin coat of liquid dish soap on the outside of the pot the next time before you use it...soot will rinse right off with the water hose when done...

yeah, just look around where the flexible fuel line meets the iron burner and there should be an adjustable vent...sounds like that vent is closed too much, so just mess around with it until you get a solid blue flame...

Cool, will do.

PS - Why doesn't my crawfish pot get any soot on it? Im guessing its a better metal than the flimsy piece of shite fry pot?

Could be paint from your burner if it was the first time you used it too

shite burns all up the first time you use it

Are you trying to turn the burner way down when it gets black? You are probably too low, and the burner isn't designed for this. The fuel/air mixture is off.

You really shouldn't try to fry fish with a "crawfish" type jet burner. These are designed for very high output.
