FIL got drawn to gator hunt Caddo Lake next month.

Does anyone have any tips on capturing these mythical beasts?

What you see on swamp people is fake.

Make sure you get a lot of practice hitting the quarter size kill shot!!
Make sure you jerk the line back and forth at least 15times before you shoot the gator. Then when you do, make sure it's in slow motion!

According to swamp people:

Set smelly bait
Pull up line
Make gator thrash for dramatic effect
Shoot
Pull in boat
profit

We use chicken quarters soaked in fish guts.. Pretty nasty crap, but the gators love it..

Also, a thick cajun accent must be developed quickly... and catch phrases.

I guess I will also need to make sure I do not load the gun before tree shaker starts thrashing and SHTF.

We got picked for the first time last year. It not nearly as dramatic as swamp people. Keep something in the boat to keep them wet. We used old blanket and dumped water on them. You wanna keep that skin moist.

So I talked to a guy in Dallas last week from Louisiana, and he was telling me that cast members who have left the show did so because of the drama the producers want to create to make the show seem dangerous. I figured as much.

The worse it smells the more they'll love the bait. Don't go out there if you don't know what you're doing we don't want to have to make a thread about you in when you go. BTW, don't be like those people on Swamp Ppl or Gator Boys.

Do you know where some bigens are located?
We buy some big arse hooks & make us some treble hooks, ride around till we spot one & snag him
We also set some lines with bait

It's like running trout lines except it requires a .22

It's work if you have more than a few tags and gators are fricking nasty

A gator that ways 150lbs somehow weighs 750lbs on TV

Nascar, got a few leads on some spots at Caddo that have a few roaming the area.

Good idea about the treble hook and snagging

I will have this on GoPro

It's always funny to me how the announcer talks about the "beast", and once they shoot it, one of them pulls is in the boat with one hand.

2 tags so hopefully it goes fairly quick.

I am excited about doing it, but it pretty much fricks my teal season.
