Anyone experienced in godaddy expired domain auctions?

There's a domain I'd like to get that is currently in expired auction. After a few days it will go to a closeout auction.
Reading on the expired auction, it looks like bidding on it would extend it's expiration time.
Should I just let it go and get it at closeout auction? Or does that extend time too?
