The government imposes an additional tax/fine/whatever you want to call it on a corporation for each employee they have that's on certain types of government assistance.

Maybe I'm not processing this correctly, but this makes zero sense in my head.

It's pretty easy to figure out... scruffy obviously didn't have an issue.

No. They should tax all companies that don't hire at least enough gay people to constitute 4% of their workforce and at least 30 % of their workforce must be on food stamps. Similarly all minumum wage laws should mandate $23 hourly minimum wages and all women employees should be forced to become pregnant so that they can have an abortion.

Well, maybe scruffy has the same backwards mind that I do...

So, a company has 100 employees, of which 15 are on government assistance due to the low wage that the company pays, so the government, instead of taking from the working man and giving to the poor, which is the way it works now, imposes a fine/tax/whatever on the company in order to subsidize these employees' government assistance.

Maybe we could eliminate spending instead of instituting more thievery.

That would go over well with low-income voters. You're disincentivizing the hiring of low-income employees.

So you have people who are receiving assistance who can't get work because no company will hire them. They'll just become a bigger problem for the government than they are today.

I'm down with that... but I don't see it happening anytime soon, and in a way, this would decrease spending.

Wouldn't it be simpler and more direct to simply end government assistance?

Are you actually suggesting that we fine a business for something that the government does (giving out government assistance)?

I think I understand what you are saying; but it is nonsensical.

Yeah, that will really encourage corporations to hire poorer people with lots of kids. Ya know, the one's that probably really need that job the most.

If anything, govt. tax breaks for companies over XXXX amount of employees that pay over a specific wage.

Maybe the 15 on assistance could educate themselves better so they could earn a living wage.
