We are currently looking in plantation trace, 100 or it could be 1000 oaks. What other good neighborhoods are there. We have about 85k for down payment and want to buy a house between 250k-400k.

Any kids in school? Or are you sending them private?

That's smart.
Buy a 300k plus home for two people.

Why would you not want kids?
If it's something physical you can always adopt.

It's what we want. We have the money and just looking for the nicest neighborhoods in that price range. House will be paid off within ten years. Not having kids is a joint decision not physical or I'm wasting money on preventing pregnancy

Might have huge circle of friends/clients/family, etc... Might just want a pimp pad to come to because they work their arse off. Maybe they are trying to avoid certain demographic? If anyone can appreciate that it's you.

My wife and I enjoy not having kids. Having the freedom to do what we want when we want. We can go on trips any time. We enjoy each other company and we enjoy life.

So you think it would be a more intelligent decision if he had mouths to feed?

This sounds like us. We are about to turn 50, no kids, nice house, no debt. My wife retires next year, and we look forward to traveling and enjoying what time we have left together.

Nothing wrong with it at all, but it is hard to have a lot of friends, when they have kids, it kind of becomes all time consuming for them.

Am I sad,I don't have kids? Yes,a bit. Do I think the world is getting worse and I would worry to death about my kids and their kids, yes.

We may regret it but we have a huge extended family. And since when do I need to defend to not have kids? In fact I think anyone making under 75k and have kids are doing those kids is a disservice especially in BR. At that income it's public schools and that's not a good thing at all.

It's absolutely unnecessary to put anymore than 20% down with current interest rates. Finance that MF as long as you can and invest the difference intelligently.

Generally speaking more expensive house = a larger house.
More people in the house = need for a larger more expensive home.

It's not that difficult to grasp.

You people sure do concern yourselves with me and certain demographics.

What city are you in? Assuming your not talking about the plantation trace that I'm thinking about (and the adjacent fontonbleu).

As a taxpayer with children, I would much rather a couple decide they don't want kids, and not have them, then a couple have kids because they feel like society makes them have kids, and they treat the kids like shite because they truly don't want them.

These neighborhoods sound suburbish.

I know if I didn't have kids, we would live in a walkable part of the city (since you don't have to worry about schools and whatnot). Living the suburbia life without kids sounds like hell.

As a taxpayer with children I'd agree, but with that said I'm assuming the OP isn't a POS.
Apparently we associate with different caliber parents.
