I have some areas on my yard that hold water, I'm looking at putting in a few of these: NDS catch basins
with some 4" PVC.

Anything special other than trying to make sure your slope is 1.25" per 10 feet?

I would get a pop up emitter as well and a little gravel or rock for underneath the emitter

And I screw everything that has a chance to possibly come apart especially the emitter lid.

I would bed the piping in some stone/gravel.

Not sure if it was really necessary, but a buddy of mine did the same thing a few summers back and he installed some sanitary Ys in the middle of a few runs of pipe. He stubbed them up and put plugs on top. He said they're for cleanouts in the future. Might be something to think about...might be a waste of money and effort though. :p

I did this project last weekend. I used pop up emitter as suggested above and works great. As far as 1.25"/10', as long as your slope breaks the bubble on level, you'll be good. Good luck!

P.S. Don't be a tight/dumb arse like me. Rent a ditch witch from the beginning! Also, get a tiller to break up the dirt to refill trench. You'll thank me.

Don't use flex pipe, use only hard pipe.

ETA: no real need for glue since there is no pressure, feel free to hold together with duct tape since the pipe doesn't do well bonding with the catch basins.

the only thing that pops into my mind is possibly installing some copper wire in the trench along with the pipe, so that you can locate it if necessary in the future....

You don't nearly need 1.25" per 10 ft...1.25" can get you 100 ft if you need it to

True, just depends on how much volume you are going to have.

1"/10ft is what we used to shoot for, but different factors come in to play.

Why not add dirt/sand? Holes aren't okay in a yard but hills are okay.
