I read that it takes some time for Apple servers to stop routing imessages to their server for your number.

If you had this problem what did you do until the problem was resolved? Any apps ?

You have to deactivate imessage on your apple device first.

Did you turn off iMessage beforehand?

If you didn't, it might take 30 days before they stop hijacking your texts. You should call them.

If you did, it still sometimes takes a few days, I've heard.

I'll save you a lot of time and and aggravation... call or chat with apple tech support and request them to manually remove your number from the imessage database. This still takes 2-3 days, but it's much better than waiting 30-45. In the mean time, enjoy missing texts from everyone who has an iPhone... it's absolutely ridiculous that Apple can hold your number hostage like that.

Yeah I deactivated imessaging off my old phone and my iPad. Guess I'll have to contact them, thanks

Normally if you turn imessage off on your devices, it works right away.

I have a few questions related to iMessages, but they're not really worthy of their own thread, so I figured I'd just ask here. I sent an iMessage to someone currently in Mexico earlier and it didn't say it was delivered. Should I assume that's just because it was international? And will it be delivered once the person I sent it to is back in the US or is it "lost"? And if it's not "lost" and will be delivered, will the day/time of the iMessage that the recipient sees be when the message is delivered or the day/time I actually sent it? Sorry if these are dumb questions, I'm not extremely tech-savvy.

I should add I have "Send as SMS" OFF in my settings. Currently, there is a blue box and all signs appear as if it was delivered (i.e. there is no blue line near the top of the phone underneath the contact's name that makes it appear like it's in the middle of sending), except that "delivered" is below the penultimate message.
