I see lots of positive reviews about the waste king 8000. Anyone have one? Is it quiet? Durable?

What garbage disposal would y'all recommend?

I use my foot.

Got it about 33 years ago for a pretty decent price and it still works like a champ.

I recommend doing away with it to be honest.

If you must buy one choose one with the shaft that can be cranked from the bottom with the included wrench otherwise when it jams it's done.

Also 3/4 hp disposals are smoother and quieter than the cheap smaller ones. Don't go too large if you have an under mount sink.

You really should consider doing away with it anyway. They only lead to potential trouble and lost money in the end.

If you have cast iron drain lines in the slab or wall owning one may be one of the biggest mistake you make in this lifetime. The acids from food particles rot away the bottom of cast iron drain lines.

I've got the Kitchenaid Subperba. Motherfricker will eat a limb and is so quiet you don't even know it's running.

Picked it up at Conns on clearance several years ago for like $150.

Also mounted it to a Pegasus Granite sink.

just installed the Badger 10 a couple of weeks ago. mind was leaking from the bottom not the top where it sealed to the sink, so I was able to keep the same seal and bracket and just change out the unit.

Badger is a legit option.

In the end it comes down to how much do you want to pay to stop your own kitchen sink drain up.

I don't put a lot of heavy stuff down my disposal. usually just soft stuff like beans. anything like left over meat or heavy veggies, etc.. goes in the garbage can

I've never heard this. I have had 2 disposals in 12 years at this house and other than the ace breaking down have never had any issues with clogs.

When adding food particles down a drain line it's just a matter of time.

Glad to hear your a has been relatively trouble free though. I'm not wishing a bad outcome on anyone.
