LSU won in Madison 38-28 in 1971. Wisconsin came down the next year as LSU won, 27-7. #21 for Wisconsin is Rufus "Roadrunner" Ferguson who was their first 1,000 yard rusher.

Here Gerald Keigley takes a Bert Jones pass for a TD. Keigley was All-SEC in football and baseball.

If I remember correctly the student newspaper [maybe the Madison fishwrapper] ripped LSU and the south in general for their racism and bigotry in an editorial.

Arrogant and bedwetting liberals. UCal east.

The student body was also throwing things yelling 'racists', 'bigots', etc. at our players.

The Wisconsin administration did apologize several days later to LSU.

I was a freshman in Tiger Band at that game. The running back for Wisconsin who scored did an endzone celebration in the NEZ and got loudly booed by Tiger fans immediately. Scoring celebrations were not readily accepted by the crowds at that time. He quickly placed the ball on the ground and ran off the field.
