Is field turf only used in the US?

EPL and other top-tier leagues play on natural grass. I have noticed quite a few of our MLS teams playing on field turf.

Has the US ever hosted an international friendly on field turf? If not, are we openly admitting that we put our focus on a cost effectiveness of a playing surface rather than paying a competent grounds crew to keep the grass in top form?

We've at least played Gold Cup matches on turf.

Only a few MLS teams play of FieldTurf, and only because of pre-existing conditions with the owners of the stadiums. Seattle agreed to play on turf, if the Seahawks would remove the football gridiron paint for all Sounders' games.

We played a World Cup Qualifier in Seattle last year, and a Gold Cup game

Several Russian teams play on FieldTurf. I think there are a few Swiss teams that use turf.

A good FieldTurf actually not that big of a difference from a normal stadium field. There's a huge difference between Arsenal's grass and Hull's grass in February. FieldTurf plays better than most non-stadium grass fields.

The other two are Portland and Vancouver.

Vancouver plays in a semi-enclosed stadium where grass won't grow. Portland has various issues with grass in its stadium, so it opts for FieldTurf for now.

Pretty sure Portland is field turf.

They have also played Gold Cup matches in the Georgia Dome on turf.

I think they are going to be using field turf at Yulman. So our team will have to play on it.

RB Salzburg played on artificial turf for five years until 2010, when they installed natural lawn turf.
