My son wants to build an android app for his high school

Looking for some advice...get all the cute tinder jokes out of the way.
it can be something database driven, can use the accelerometer or GPS/location service..for instance maybe a virtual building where you could tap on each room to see who the teacher is and what class they teach...or even an on screen gps arrow to lead you to your class. his building is huge..2 stories and often tricky..especially for freshmen..to find their next class before the bell.
i dunno.
i'm trying to think creatively..something that might actually be useful and that he can learn alot from creating.
all ideas welcome. nothing to do know except sit while the entire first page of this thread is consumed with smart arse replies.

thought about this. depends on whether the weekly menu is online in a format he could easily parse into the app or if he would have to manually add it each week.

Set up a game of Tag with the phone using NFC. This is potentially dangerous (to the phones) and stupid, which means it's perfect for high school students.
