It seems to me that there are a lot of people doubting that we have a successful team this year, and I just can't see that. When I evaluate this team I just see nothing but talent , personally speaking I think this is one of the best looking teams talent wise I've ever seen. I think we have the best offensive line in the country, I think our running game will be relentless, which will open up the passing game where we are loaded with receivers, that should be able to stretch the field and should have no problem going up and getting balls with their height and athleticism. On the defensive side of the ball I think we are going to be ridiculous good, just look at this talent in the backfield White, Robinson, Mills, Paris, Collins, Dwayne Thomas, Ronald Martin, Corey Thompson, Rickey Jefferson and Jamal Adams loaded is an understatement! In the LB dept. I think we are definitely upgraded, at DE Rasco/Hunter will be a force, our only ? would be at DT and out of Thomas and Lacouture i think one of them will rise to the challenge. I know we are young at qb but so are a lot of other teams, 2010 we won 10 games with qb play that was mediocre at best. All that said I see this team doing great thing and can't wait to be in Houston cheering them on

i'm very excited about this incoming class but it's just a lack of experience at the skill position that's the big hangup.

skill position is the best place to overcome being young.

the defense returns and the o line returns. it really can come down to whether we hit early on a young qb. we shall see.

i am just glad our d is pretty in tact and la'el collins returned at LT.

teams around the league are all going through some major changes like replacing their qbs as well.. and the schedule really favors us.

They will have growing pains early on for sure. But the schedule is easy enough early that we should be ok. By mid season we should be hitting our stride as we gain experience. Should be a really fun season.

Defensive line and QB are huge question marks. It's not because the players at those positions are chumps; it's just because first-time starters in the SEC have to make huge adjustments to be successful. I'm pulling for them (as are all Tigers), but it's realistic to expect some growing pains.

Correct. I don't think many on here realize how hard it is to adjust from HS to The SEC. Especially at QB. Jennings is still having growing pains and I am just not sure how Miles will handle the QB situation. I am much more excited about next year than this year. 10 wins would be huge for this years team.

tebow in 2007 won the heisman in his first year

matt flynn won a national championship in his first year

2010, cam newton won the heisman AND a national title in his first year

2011, AJ Mccarron won the national title in his first year

2012, johnny manziel, a redshirt frosh won the heisman in his first year

2013, nick marshall won the SEC and made it to the national title game in his first year

2013, jameis winston, a redshirt freshman, wins the heisman and championship

so to act like a first year qb, young or old, cannot succeed, well... that's just foolish.

Foolish is probably not the best word to use here, since all of the guys on your list had more playing experience than either of LSU's QBs. And from what we have seen, Jennings (with one whole game against a non-SEC opponent) doesn't seem to have the same level of talent as the others on your list. We all need to temper our expectations and hope that the OLine can protect our QB and clear the way for our RBs.

I couldn't agree more monster, back to back heismans were given to first year starters. neither of the 2 had taken one snap at the collegiate level. With this line and the running game it should make the transistion pretty smooth.

A lot of those players you listed above had some experience in the form of playing for another team, redshirting, or waiting their time to earn the starting spot. I don't think any of them were true freshmen for the awards you listed.

Only QB that would fit that bill on our team is Jennings.

I think the trepidation comes from a couple things:
(1) Youth and inexperience at critical positions (QB, WR, interior DL);
(2) While LSU is talented, the SECw is arguably the most talented it has ever been (Bama and AU are national title contenders, State and OM have more talent than they have ever had and experienced QBs, etc.).

I personally think people should temper their expectations a little.

2015 is the year that we make a run at a national championship IMO.

If we win 9 or 10 this year, I will be extremely pleased.

Will be a great season, Wisconsin is a concern because we are young in the skill positions.By the time we reach the SEC we should be ready.

Thats the thing...the most talented team doesn't always win and this team is too young right now at some key positions not to have doubts.

It doesn't mean you doubt the talent it means you need to see it first.

The coaches in this league are the best in the country, without question. They will find ways defensively to test us and at times we will need a young inexperienced QB to make a play. They need to prove that they not only will make that play, but not make too many mistakes along the way that puts games out of reach for LSU.

Almost all of those guys you pointed out to have been successful had more experience playing QB in JC or were going into their 3rd year in a program which Jennings doesn't have and none were true freshman.

While high success is always possible with young guys, expecting it in the SEC from our two QBs at their career points would be foolish.

I'll be content if one can manage the game without game changing mistakes.

Our only ? WOULD be? Like there's a doubt. Dude, that is a gigantic question! And "one of them will rise to the challenge" sounds good, but we need four of them to rise to the challenge - and that's if we don't suffer an injury there.
