West Nile has been detected in a sentinel chicken and samples from water that was breeding mosquitoes in Dularge, Terrebonne officials said.

A parish contractor is spraying insecticide in those and other areas, where the virus was detected in samples taken last week. Those tests came back Friday, officials said.

It was first found in Bourg earlier this month, seems to be spreading..

Was doing some work around my camp Friday and had a guy stop by and drop off a pamphlet about it, said they were several cases reported. They were going up and down the road spraying all day long.

Don't see what the big deal is. We have it here in WBR. Just wear off and it's no problem.

Wake me up when it's as widespread as it was 10 years ago.

I'm not concerned.

With the amount of mosquitoes I get bit by, I would have gotten it by now if I could get it.

Most people (70%) who get west Nile don't even know they have it.
Wear bug spray, see doc if sick...

But fear the Chicken!

I think if you have a good immune system you're okay. The young and elderly seem to be more at risk
