I am trying to plan a trip for me and my wife to NYC with the main priority being Times Squares for NYE. I have no idea where to start though. Can anybody put me in the right direction?

New York on New Years is awesome. Times Square on New Years sucks a big one.

That looks like a nightmare. I love NYC, but I have no interest in doing that.

I expected that response but some things we just have to experience for ourselves, so any planning advice would be greatly appreciated.

Did it to start our honeymoon. Would not do again. Glad we did it once though.

Bring your own booze. You won't find it very available on the street.

The streets are more packed than Murphy's ever was on 25¢ beer night.

I love NYC. Am planning a trip there for Xmas but will NOT be there for NYE! Seriously how can being crammed with that many people be fun? And imagine the simple things......like finding a restroom. No thanks!

how did you go about planning it? Where did you stay and how long did you stay in NYC?

I want to hopefully secure a hotel to maybe view from a rooftop.

You got it! Make SURE you get reservations at one of the restaurants. That way you aren't standing for 6 hours in possible negative temps while having no restrooms to use. Its going to be AT LEAST $500 each for dinner and an indoor spot to watch the ball drop but its kind of a must if you are with your wife.

BTW- $500 is for like a TGI Fridays type place but it would include dinner and open bar, it goes way up from there for nicer places.

That's understandable. So should I plan to room elsewhere outside of Times Square and just reserve a restaurant for the NYE ball drop?

Hope in one hand
Shite in the other
You are too late at finding one. I bet you can't find one until the 2016-17 change. Security sucks, this is the next terrorist attack site.

The only enjoyable way is in a hotel with a view. Everything else is miserable. Good luck on the roof top, might get pushed off, it will be more crowded than the street.
