Anybody heard any word from either of these places? I haven't been yet this year and was thinking about taking the kids this weekend.

If not, I may just try to catch a few crabs with them.

Thanks fin, I knew the crabs were there, but hadn't heard about the other.

Went today. Zero shrimp. I mean not one. Crabs on the other hand, we crushed. Caught our limit along with our limit of reds while messing with the crabs. Probably caught 25 dozen total in about 4 hours. Threw back the small ones and kept mostly #2s. They were coming out the marsh by the 10-15 and we were just scooping their asses up before they went through the weir.

What time was the water rolling out? It looks like the ride should drop tomorrow afternoon, so I was going to wait and go later in the day to try and avoid the crowd.

With all the rain the fresh water was pumping out when we got there at 6:45. It was about 2 feet higher on the inside. Current picked up even more around 10:30 when the tide started to fall. That's when the crabs were rushing out the marsh. Out of all the ones we caught we might have gotten 2 dozen on actual string and bait. Before they started moving we just hoped into the ankle deep water and there were hundreds of them in the grass just sitting there waiting to be caught. Mud Hole and the one before it were loaded with people early. We got lucky and headed to another one and we were the first one there.

Also the LSU weirs are closed down. So don't think about running all the way south.

Thanks for the advice. Still trying to decide if I want to fight the crowds in the morning. I have a mudmotor that's not real fast so even if I get there early, I won't be the first one to the weir.

If you wanna tell me which one y'all went to that wasn't crowded, shoot me an email at rebbeertd@gmail

Good luck. There were a lot of people for a Friday. So either go early or wait till afternoon

Thanks for the advice. You were dead on. We caught 2 baskets and had to throw about 1/2 a basket back after we counted out our 12 dozen. The shrimp are nonexistent out there from what everyone told me.
