Push Notifications Stopped - Galaxy S4

Apparently some of my push notifications got stopped.
I'm no longer getting pushes for Gmail, Groupme, and several other apps. I am still getting pushes from facebook and some others. The notification setting in the app manager are on, and the accounts are set to sync in the accounts manager.
Any suggestions?

Pull down your notification bar. In the quick settings on the very top (wifi, bluetooth, location, etc...) there should be an icon for "Sync". Make sure that is turned on. You may have to scroll to the right to see it, since it's not usually in the first few on the screen by default.
Edit to add a picture... See the icons at the top of the screen? scroll to the right to find the Sync icon and make sure it's green (on).

That was all on. I ended up just deleting my google account and readding it and my notifications magically turned back on.
